Privacy Policy

Effective October 1, 2026

This policy explains what LakeLevelToday, a service of Northwoods Ventures LLC, collects when you use our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: you can use every page without telling us who you are.

1. What we collect

  • No accounts or contact details. The site has no sign-up, and none of its pages ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
  • What you search for. The words you type in the lake search box are used to find matching lakes, and are sent to Google Analytics so we can see which lakes people look for. Please don't type personal information into the search box.
  • Technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and the page that referred you, and keeps them in short-lived server logs used to run and secure the site.
  • Usage data. Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics record how the site is used: pages viewed, how you arrived, device and browser type, and approximate location. See section 4.

2. How we use it

  • To deliver pages to you and find the lakes you search for.
  • To decide which lakes to add or expand, based on what people search for.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and understand overall traffic.
  • To comply with law.

3. Who we share it with

  • Service providers that run the site on our behalf: Vercel (hosting and website analytics) and Google Analytics (website analytics). They may process data only to provide their service to us.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of anyone.
  • Business transfers. If Northwoods Ventures LLC is acquired or merges, information may transfer to the successor under this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

4. Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site. It uses first-party cookies and collects your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, how you arrived, your approximate location, and the words you search for on the site. Google processes this data for us. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization, so it isn't used to build advertising profiles. To learn how Google uses this data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services. To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Vercel Web Analytics. We also count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, from our hosting provider. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't store your IP address. It tells visits apart with a code made from each request, which is discarded after 24 hours, and gives us only totals: pages viewed, the site that referred you, device, operating system and browser type, and approximate location. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy page.

There are no advertising tags on the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; every page still works. If we add advertising, we will update this policy first and describe it here.

Our pages link to the agencies whose readings we show, such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Weather Service, and to other sites. What happens on those sites is governed by their own privacy policies.

6. How long we keep it

Server logs are kept for a short period, generally no more than 30 days, unless we need them longer to investigate abuse or as the law requires.

7. Your choices and rights

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email support@lakeleveltoday.com and we will respond within 45 days. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including Connecticut, California, Colorado, and Virginia, may exercise their rights under those laws the same way. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Security

Pages are served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every breach.

9. Children

LakeLevelToday is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date appears at the top. See also our Terms of Service.
